OTTAWA, Thursday, September 28, 2023 – With a shared vision for creating greater economic opportunity, companies from every part of
Canada’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) supply chain converged on Ottawa
this week
to deliver a simple message: ZEV manufacturing is a national champion industry evolving from coast to coast to
coast.

On Wednesday, members of the Accelerate Alliance, along with collaborators Global Automakers of Canada, Electric
Mobility Canada, the Battery Metals Association of Canada, the Canadian Critical Minerals and Materials
Alliance, and the Mining Association of Canada, put on a physical demonstration of made-in-Canada supply chain
elements, including Canadian critical minerals, battery materials and technologies, motors, parts, and
passenger, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, to highlight the significant economic opportunity and job creation
value the ZEV supply chain represents for Canada.

“The vehicle industry is undergoing its most significant change since the invention of the internal combustion
engine,” said Matthew Fortier, President and CEO of Accelerate. “Now is the time to ensure Canada, a long-time
automotive powerhouse with rich resources, talent and infrastructure, is primed to take its place as a global
leader in the new zero-emission vehicle industry with a robust supply chain. By promoting clear, consistent
strategies, policies and support to deepen the roots of this sector, collectively, we can assure positive,
lasting returns on investments in this already thriving Canadian industry. ”

Members gathered at a reception in the evening, where the crucial timing of investments was underscored by an
announcement from Julie Dabrusin
, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Natural
Resources and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change of a $500,000 investment
in Accelerate Alliance to support the building of a battery innovation roadmap that charts Canada’s
capacity to develop, commercialize and scale up a sustainable domestic battery innovation ecosystems.

Members of the Accelerate Alliance also met with members of federal parliament on Thursday to further promote
the innovation and overall potential of Canada’s ZEV industry and its vital role in the future of the Canadian
economy.

“We had the pleasure of meeting with many MPs from every party over the past few days, and we are confident that
policymakers understand the crucial need for Canada to grow our vehicle industry and supply chain as the world
steadily moves toward net zero mobility,” said Fortier. ” The world is moving to zero-emission mobility. Canada
can lead the way. Accelerate’s mission is to ensure Canada capitalizes on this opportunity.”
